Can I download an X Space recording?

Yes. Once a Space has ended and its archive is public, the recording can be saved as an M4A audio file. Both a direct Space link and the URL of a post containing the Space will work.

Why can't some Spaces be downloaded?

Only Spaces whose host chose to publish the archive can be saved. Spaces that are still live, or that were hosted without archiving enabled, are not supported. That is decided by the host's settings and cannot be changed from this tool.

Does it cost anything? Do I need an account?

It is free to use, and no account or sign-in is required. Paste a URL, press Run, and that is all.

What format is the file saved in?

As an M4A audio file. Video Spaces are saved as MP4 video files. The "M3U8" button also lets you save the playlist in M3U8 format.

Does it work on a smartphone?

Yes. It runs straight from the browser on iOS and Android with no app to install, and works the same way on Windows and Mac.

How long can I download the file for?

For 24 hours after processing completes. After that it is deleted from the server, so download it promptly once it is ready.

Why does processing take a while?

Downloads are queued to keep server load down, and longer Spaces take longer to process. If a great many requests arrive in a short period, new ones may be turned away temporarily.

Can I transcribe the recording I downloaded?

A separate tool, Transcriber — free AI audio transcription in your browser, handles this. It reads M4A directly, your audio never leaves the browser, and speaker diarization is supported.

Can I convert the downloaded M4A to MP3?

Yes, with Media Tools, another tool by the same author, right in your browser. It loads the M4A as it is and converts it to MP3, WAV, OGG and more, and can also cut silence and normalize volume. Files never leave your device.

Privacy Policy

This site (twspace-dl.tools.ryusei.io) is a free downloader for X (formerly Twitter) Space recordings run by an individual. The following explains how user data is handled.

Entered URLs and audio files

For the Space at the URL you enter, this site's server retrieves information from X (the ID, the title, and the host's name and username) and stores it to process the download. The audio file (a video file for video Spaces) and its playlist are created and stored on this site's server, and are deleted together with the retrieved information 24 hours after processing finishes. The list of Spaces you requested is also stored in your browser (local storage). You can remove items from the list on the page at any time (files on the server are deleted on the schedule above).

Requests to X

Space information and audio files are retrieved by this site's server from X. Your IP address and similar information are not sent from this site to X.

Access and processing records

To prevent abuse and investigate failures, this site's server keeps access records (IP address, browser type, pages accessed, date and time) for about 10 days and processing records (Space ID, title, host name, error details) for 14 days, and then deletes them. These records are not provided to third parties.

Information sent to outside companies (external transmission of user information)

When you open a page on this site, your browser sends information to outside companies such as Google for analytics and advertising, as described below.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

This site uses Google Analytics to improve the site. Statistics such as the pages viewed, time on site and browser used are sent to Google. The URLs you enter are not sent, but when you click a link to X in the list (a Space or the host's page), the URL of that link is sent.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site shows ads through Google AdSense to cover running costs. Google may use cookies to show ads based on your interests. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ad Settings. Google may show a message, for example when you use an ad blocker.

Cookies and browser storage

This site uses cookies and your browser's local storage for the display language and color scheme settings, the list of Spaces you requested, and the analytics and advertising described above.
