Published Space recording archives

Once a Space has ended and its archive is public, the recording can be saved as M4A. Paste the URL and a Space you missed is yours to keep.

Supported URL formats

Both the direct Space link (https://x.com/i/spaces/○○○) and the URL of a post containing the Space (https://x.com/username/status/○○○) are supported.

How to use it

  1. Copy the URL

    Copy the URL of the Space you want to save, or of the post the Space is attached to.

  2. Paste it and run

    Paste it into the field above and press "Execute" — the download is then processed on the server.

  3. Get your M4A

    When processing finishes, the "Audio" button becomes clickable, and you can save the recording as an M4A audio file. For video Spaces, the "Video" button saves an MP4 video file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download an X Space recording?

Yes. Once a Space has ended and its archive is public, the recording can be saved as an M4A audio file. Both a direct Space link and the URL of a post containing the Space will work.

Why can't some Spaces be downloaded?

Only Spaces whose host chose to publish the archive can be saved. Spaces that are still live, or that were hosted without archiving enabled, are not supported. That is decided by the host's settings and cannot be changed from this tool.

Does it cost anything? Do I need an account?

It is free to use, and no account or sign-in is required. Paste a URL, press Run, and that is all.

What format is the file saved in?

As an M4A audio file. Video Spaces are saved as MP4 video files. The "M3U8" button also lets you save the playlist in M3U8 format.

Does it work on a smartphone?

Yes. It runs straight from the browser on iOS and Android with no app to install, and works the same way on Windows and Mac.

How long can I download the file for?

For 24 hours after processing completes. After that it is deleted from the server, so download it promptly once it is ready.

Why does processing take a while?

Downloads are queued to keep server load down, and longer Spaces take longer to process. If a great many requests arrive in a short period, new ones may be turned away temporarily.

Can I transcribe the recording I downloaded?
